Manchester City have completed their second signing of the summer transfer window.

Man City have completed the signing of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace for an initial fee of £20 million in the January transfer window. The 25-year-old has signed an initial five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until June 2031.

Guehi was out of contract at Selhurst Park at the end of the season and already made it clear he would not sign a new deal at the South London club. It meant he would have been available as a free agent in the summer, hence why City were able to sign him for such a low fee. The centre-back is not eligible to feature for Man City in their Champions League clash against Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday night, but could make his debut when they host Wolves in the Premier League this weekend.

Guehi will wear the No.15 shirt at City for the remainder of the season and becomes their second star signing of the month, after they also completed a deal to sign Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth.

Guehi completes Man City move

Marc Guehi has completed his £20 million move from Crystal Palace to Manchester City in the 2026 January transfer window. The Blues stepped up their interest in Guehi amid a defensive injury crisis that left them without Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol and John Stones.

Speaking after his move was made official, Guehi explained the transfer decision: "I am really happy and incredibly proud to be a Manchester City player," Guehi said as the transfer was confirmed on Monday.

"This move feels like the culmination of all the hard work I have put into my career. I am now at the best club in England and part of an unbelievable squad of players. It feels good to be able to say that. I want to grow as a player and a person, and I know at this club that’s going to happen.

"I love football, it has given me so much for so long, and to be able to continue my development at Manchester City is a really special moment for me and my family. I absolutely cannot wait to get started now. I want to meet my teammates, train hard, understand what the manager expects of me and then show the City fans what I can do."

City director of football Hugo Viana added: "He is strong, has exceptional defensive qualities, is an intelligent reader of the game, and brings passion and energy every time he steps onto the pitch. I am so pleased it was us he chose to join."
