Marc Guehi snubs Liverpool in Man City interview: “A lot has been said” – Latest LFC News

Marc Guehi has delivered a pointed message in his first interview at Man City, declaring that when they came calling, “there was only one answer.”

Marc Guehi’s comments not kind to Liverpool

Guehi’s move to Man City has been made official and he has already given his first interview at his new club.

In a pointed video put out by Man City‘s media team, the 25-year-old said: “There’s been some talk and a lot of noise, but when asked if I wanted to come to City, there was only one answer.

“I know what winning feels like and I won’t stop until I get that same feeling. A lot has been said but I’ll let my football do the talking.”

Guehi is clearly referring here to his failed Liverpool transfer that broke down on deadline day when Crystal Palace pulled the plug on the deal, despite him having already completed his medical.

The new Man City No. 15 also said that he is now “at the best club in England” and “it feels good to be able to say that.”

Having come so close to becoming a Liverpool player, it hurts to hear him giving his first interview in sky blue, but it is understandable to some extent that he wouldn’t be best-pleased with Liverpool, who would have had their man if they had wrapped up the summer transfer earlier.

As well as Liverpool’s poor form, the Reds were also unable to compete with the staggering £300,000-per-week reported wages that he will receive at the Etihad.

It is very rare that Liverpool fans boo their team, and while it was still a small number who voiced their frustration in that way, Jack Lusby believes their boos were justified:

“Unbeaten they may be, but Liverpool are unbeaten in the least convincing fashion, and there is a sense that in improving results on paper, Slot has sacrificed the brand of football that earned his move to Anfield in the first place.

“It seems a case of playing not to lose, rather than playing to win. Liverpool have not only become boring to watch, but they are desperately brittle.”

• Sadio Mane has spoken of how it would have been “crazy” for Senegal to continue their protest and remain off the pitch in their AFCON final against Morocco – he was the only player to stay on the pitch as the coach took the team off

• Senegal are now set to face sanctions as a result. What do you think? Surely walking off is never right, but the decision to disallow their goal was a disgrace.

Liverpool FC: On this day

It was on this day in 2020 that Liverpool beat Man United 2-0 at Anfield thanks to goals from Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah.

Who could forget that moment of elation when Salah finished the game off in style, slotting at the Kop End to beat our greatest rivals and move 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League.

In the spur of the moment, Alisson sprinted the length of the pitch to celebrate with Salah, and like Pepe Reina had done with David Ngog 11 years previous, the goalkeeper was the first player to reach the goalkeeper!
