Jaylen Brown was named an All-Star starter for the Eastern Conference for the first time in his career on Monday. The Celtics star joins Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Brunson, Cade Cunningham, and Giannis Antetokounmpo as the Eastern Conference players that were voted as starters.

It will be Brown’s fifth All-Star selection and fourth straight overall amid a career season for the Celtics forward. Brown is averaging 29.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, with the points and assists marks representing career highs. He’s also appeared in 38 of Boston’s 41 games, guiding the Celtics to the No. 2 seed in the East during the first half of the season despite the absence of fellow star Jayson Tatum (torn Achilles).

The starters for the Western Conference were also announced with Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama earning the honors.

The All-Star game this year will feature a new format featuring three teams with eight-man roster, two of which will be made up of American players, with the other team making up international selections. The coaches will pick the reserves for the All-Stars which will be announced next week.

The first three quarters will be made up of round-robin play between the three teams before the two best teams face off in the “fourth” quarter.

The All-Star Game will be held in Los Angeles at the Intuit Dome on Sunday, February 15.
