Liverpool and FSG may have already decided Arne Slot's fate as manager

Liverpool remain in poor form despite their unbeaten streak and Arne Slot’s job may be more at risk than ever.

The news that Xabi Alonso is now free for fire has introduced a new variable into the conversation surrouding Slot’s future at Liverpool.

Liverpool would not have expected to be in this situation when they spent £440m on new signings in the summer.

FSG now need to find the best course through this mess without jeopardising their massive investment in transfers.

Claims that FSG have already decided Arne Slot’s fate as Liverpool manager

Xabi Alonso would prefer to join his next club in the summer in order to take a break for the rest of the season.

Speaking to Anfield Index, journalist David Lynch said that FSG may have already decided what to do with Slot.

“They clearly, clearly want to get to the end of the season with Slot if they can,” he said. “They don’t want to make a mid-season managerial change because who do you get as the interim? It would clearly be better to make the managerial change in the summer.

“I think his future’s already set to be honest. It’s been so pronounced the decline for such a long time.

“It is only a case of getting to the summer albeit if he starts to lose six, seven on the bounce again he will get bulleted because they’ll feel forced to go for an interim.

“But they don’t want to change, they really would prefer not to.”

Liverpool could put more at risk by waiting any longer

Although there have been some improvements in overall gameplay, Liverpool appear rudderless and idea-less at times.

If FSG has already decided to get rid of Arne Slot, they need to act on it.

There are no guarantees Liverpool finish in the top four given their form so there is also the risk that they fail to secure Champions League football.

This season has revealed that largely, Liverpool’s transfer instincts in the summer were-placed while Slot has struggled to find the tactical balance in his squad.

If Xabi Alonso is to be Slot’s replacement, Liverpool better move quickly than regret things later.
