Derrick White isn’t entirely sure how, but he’s confident — his hometown Denver Broncos are going to defeat the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
The Celtics guard, who grew up in Parker, Colorado, knows he’s in the minority in Boston.
“I like the Broncos,” White said. “I don’t know how they’re going to win, but they’re going to win. It’s in Denver. New England has struggled in Denver in the past. It’ll be a good game.”
The Patriots will head to Mile High Stadium Sunday in a 3 p.m. game on CBS. The game is a rematch of the 2015 and 2013 AFC title games, both of which the Broncos won.
While Denver has a home-field advantage, the Broncos are already dealing with how they will approach the game without their starting quarterback. Bo Nix broke his ankle during the Bronco’s divisional round win over the Buffalo Bills. Denver will turn to former Patriot backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham.

“They got a lot of patriots fans around here, but I’m holding it down for Denver,” White said. “I don’t want to jump to conclusions. But Jarrett Stidham, I’ve been watching highlights. I’m positive with it right now, so it should be a good game.”
