Jayson Tatum’s Celtics comeback this season gains momentum after new workout

In front of the media, Tatum flashed promising signs of recovery and progress in his road back to the hardwood for Boston.

As the Boston Celtics continue to persevere without him this season, Jayson Tatum is meanwhile doing everything he can behind the scenes.

As such, the franchise superstar delivered in what might be his best workout thus far, per Noa Dalzell of SB Nation.

As the Celtics are in Detroit to face the Pistons on Monday, Tatum had a 45-minute workout at Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan. In a rare occurrence in front of the media, the Boston forward showed impressive signs in his ongoing grind for a potential season comeback after last year's Achilles tear.

According to Dalzell, Tatum engaged in a strong level of physicality but showed no signs of slowing down. Several staff members of the Celtics assisted him as he went off for multiple shooting drills: knocking down threes off screens, working on off-the-dribble pull-ups and attacking the rim for dunks and layups through intense defensive pressure.

Tatum mainly shows his workout progress via social media. But what he flashed recently in front of the media is a clear sign that he's heading in the right direction.

Although it remains to be seen if he'll be able to play sooner, the Celtics are fully satisfied with Tatum's relentless work and progress in hopes of a possible appearance at some point this season.

“It’s been amazing to see, obviously, all the work he’s putting in,” Derrick White said. “You just kind of see him being around more, and being able to do more. So that’s exciting to see, as a friend. Every day he’s been working hard, and it’s good to see all that hard work add to some more movement and more opportunities.”
