Jalen Brunson airs frustration to Knicks amid boos in harsh loss vs. Mavs

Brunson and the Knicks endured their worst loss of the season against the Mavs, igniting jeers from the New York fanbase at home.

The New York Knicks absorbed their worst loss of the season on Monday, sustaining a 114-97 brutal defeat at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks.

Entering the matchup, the Knicks were expected to easily secure the win considering their complete roster and the injury absences of Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford for the Mavs. Yet, in the end, the result turned out opposite in a devastating fashion.

As a result, the Madison Square Garden crowd unleashed jeers at the Knicks in what has been a disappointing showing. And in the eyes of Jalen Brunson, they fully deserve the hostile treatment.

"I'd be booing us too," he simply said in the postgame, "straight up."

From start to finish, the Mavericks have stunned the Knicks with their energy and consistent shooting. The road team led by as many as 30 behind Max Christie who dropped a game-high 26 points.

As Dallas was red-hot from the field, New York struggled in its own with just 40 percent shooting from the field. They were also bricking from beyond the arc, shooting just 9-of-31 from the three-point distance.

The home loss served as the ninth loss of the Knicks in the last 11 games. Their record worsened to 25-18, as they are now just 1.5 games away from the Play-In.

Josh Hart argued that he and the Knicks need to do an urgent soul-searching. But for Brunson, this process is way too late now.

"Should've started a couple weeks ago, but we got to start tomorrow," Brunson said. "We've got to figure this out fast"
