The day Walters netted hat-trick as Blues hit Robins for six nearly two decades ago

Today, we throwback to the Championship game between the two sides when Jim Magilton's side ran riot at Portman Road in November 2007.

This game marked the first ever senior hat-trick for Irishman Jon Walters, who had joined Town earlier in the year after impressing against the Blues in the FA Cup for Chester City.

The Blues got off to a fast start and opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Walters cut in from the right and his slightly deflected shot arrowed into the bottom corner of the net.

Town's second goal came on the quarter-hour mark when Alan Lee crossed the ball into the box and found the unmarked David Wright, who popped his header into the corner of the net.

Three minutes into the second half it got worse for the Robins as they went down to ten men when future Town loanee Bradley Orr was shown a straight red card after tripping Danny Haynes in the box.

Tommy Miller stepped up and scored the spot kick as he hit a low shot past goalkeeper Adriano Basso. The Blues' fourth goal of the afternoon came in the 55th minute when Walters took the ball into the area before lashing a shot past Basso at his near post.

Ten minutes later, Pablo Couñago got his name on the scoresheet after a 50-yard run, as he slipped the ball past Basso with trademark subtlety.

The Spaniard then turned provided when he played in Walters to complete his hat-trick as he took the ball into the area and finished past Basso.

Three minutes later, Town's hat-trick hero left the pitch to a standing ovation.

This result was Town's 11th home victory in a row and once again the Blues looked like a side well capable of being in the promotion shake-up come the end of the season.

But they ended up missing out on the play-offs by just one point in the 2007/08 campaign.

Town XI: Alexander, Wright, Harding, De Vos, Bruce, Garvan (Legwinski 79), Miller, Walters (Roberts 75), Clarke, Lee (Haynes 37), Couñago.
