The biggest new Premier League transfer rumours - with news from Manchester United, Wolves, Chelsea and Leeds.

Another day of gossip has passed, and that means that it’s time for 3 Added Minutes’ regular morning round-up of the biggest and wildest new Premier League transfer rumours from the past 24 hours – starting with a story for Manchester United fans.

According to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Red Devils “have enquired” about the availability of Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó, which is also the subject of interest from Atlético Madrid as they work to replace the departed Conor Gallagher.

Apparently the 22-year-old, who hasn’t been a regular starter for Hansi Flick’s side after an impressive breakthrough season in 2024/25, has also “been on Wolves’ radar” and the struggling Midlands outfit plan to “keep him on their shortlist,” presumably in case they lose João Gomes, another target for Atléti.

There’s no suggestion that Wolves have asked Barcelona about a deal as United supposedly have, and no suggestion that any advanced negotiations have taken place – nor is there any word about the price tag that would be involved. Barcelona are implied to be happy to keep Casadó, for whatever that may be worth, while the player himself is said to “prefer to finish the season” at the Camp Nou.

The 3AM Verdict: Wolves are dragged into this story because they were supposedly looking at him in the summer, not because Mundo Deportivo think a deal is likely now, and we doubt it will given that they seem to be contemplating a fire sale rather than investing in their relegation battle. We also believe that a move to Manchester United is unlikely, at least in January. A summer deal is more plausible.

Chelsea ‘working on’ ambitious Enzo Fernández replacement

Let’s head down to Stamford Bridge for another story from Spain now, this time from gossipmongers Fichajes – who claim that the Blues believe that keeping hold of Enzo Fernández “will be extremely difficult” amid interest from Real Madrid, and have thus started “working on a potential departure scenario.”

That involves launching a bid for PSG and Portugal midfielder João Neves, who has become Chelsea’s “chosen replacement” should Real make a move for Fernández. To get such an ambitious bid over the line, a “major offensive” is being planned, with a bid of around €125m (£108m) being “discussed.”

PSG, for their part, see Neves as a “cornerstone” of their sporting project, according to the report, and won’t let him leave easily – but with Real Madrid supposedly set to do everything they can to bring Fernández to the Bernabeu, Neves will become Chelsea’s “absolute priority.”

The 3AM Verdict: We’re surely talking about a summer transfer here if it does happen, but either way we should note that the source for this story is not, in our opinion, remotely reliable when it comes to transfer news. Real may well be interested in Fernández, but we can’t see Chelsea letting him leave easily – and think PSG would be even less willing to let Neves leave. Call us sceptical.

Leeds ‘open talks’ over £12m midfielder

Let’s wrap this morning’s little digest up with a story for the Leeds United supporters among you, courtesy of The Daily Mail – who state that the Whites have “opened talks” with Werder Bremen over a deal for versatile midfielder Romano Schmid.

Leeds are said to be offering “around £12m” for the 25-year-old Austria international, who is a regular starter for Bremen, and may not stop their transfer business there – it’s said that Leeds are also “considering strengthening in defence” this winter after an injury to centre-half Jaka Bijol.

This story follows on the heels of a social media post from Fabrizio Romano from Sunday, which also said that Leeds were “in talks” over a deal to sign Schmid and which agreed with the reported price point. There’s no suggestion that a deal has been agreed, nor any word on whether personal terms will be easy to get sorted.

The 3AM Verdict: There’s enough sources for this story now for us to feel confident that it’s the real deal, but there are still hurdles to be cleared while negotiations continue. As for the defence, we suspect that Leeds are indeedlooking at signing at least one centre-back before the window closes.
