'Offer of £78 million' - RB Leipzig chief makes Yan Diomande claim as winger dreams of…

Liverpool, Manchester United and Man City have all been linked wit Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig.

Red Bull chief Oliver Mintzlaff has insisted that Leipzig are not looking to cash in on Yan Diomande anytime soon.

The winger has been scintillating since he joined Die Roten Bullen from CD Leganes last summer. Diomande has already plundered seven goals and four assists for Leipzig despite being just 19.

His performances have made him one of the hottest prospects in Europe. Diomande has been linked with several clubs, with Liverpool reportedly among those watching his progress.

Leipzig are a club that are open to sales of their prized assets. Liverpool have signed Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai from the Saxony outfit, while the likes of Josko Gvardiol (Manchester City), Benjamin Sesko (Manchester United), Xavi Simons (Tottenham) and Christopher Nkunku (Chelsea) have made big-money exits in recent years.

However, Mintzlaff has insisted that Leipzig have their own ambitions and will not allow Diomande to depart so swiftly. Speaking to Sky Sports Germany (via bullinews.com), Mintzlaff said: “As chairman of the supervisory board, I would say he will definitely be with us next season – even if there were an offer of €80 or €90 million (£70-79 million).

“You simply can’t let go of such a young player, whom we just signed, after only one year. He’s extremely young and playing his first Bundesliga season. We’ve worked to ensure that players can stay a bit longer.”

“The truth is that, while we are a very ambitious Bundesliga club, there are also other top clubs. In the past, we have repeatedly had to let good players go – partly to generate transfer revenue, and partly because they were ready to take the next step in their careers.”

Mintzlaff added that ’not a single interested club has come forward yet’ to sign Diomande.

Liverpool could be in the market for a new winger in the summer transfer window. Mo Salah will be aged 35 when his Anfield contract expires in 2027 and a long-term successor is required. There are also question marks over his future after Salah claimed he’d been ‘thrown under a bus’ and his relationship had broken down with Arne Slot after a 3-3 draw against Leeds United last month. Salah had been an unused substitute.

In addition, there are sections of supporters who feel that Luis Diaz was not adequately replaced after he was sold to Bayern Munich for £65 million. Cody Gakpo is Liverpool’s only out-and-out senior left-sided winger, with 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha the back-up.
