Arsenal negotiate transfer fee – Medical this week, as Gunners discuss incoming money

Mikel Arteta left Oleksandr Zinchenko out of his plans at the Emirates and Arsenal let him join Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan deal towards the end of last summer.

The Ukraine international has played 353 minutes from five league matches and hasn’t played in the Premier League since December.

Ajax want to offer the Arsenal owned player an escape route in the winter market. Two days ago, De Telegraaf reported the Eredivisie side want to sign him on loan. They also stated Ajax have agreed terms with the Gunners.

On Monday, the same outlet explained the Amsterdam club have scheduled his medical on Tuesday. They are waiting for Arteta’s side to terminate his loan deal with Nottingham Forest.

De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report the new twist.

Ajax have been looking forward to the 29-year-old’s arrival in the Netherlands today. This won’t happen on Tuesday because the north London club are trying to change the terms.

After initially agreeing for a loan transfer, the journalist claims Arsenal now want to sell the left-back, who can also operate as a midfielder.

Arsenal negotiating for a transfer fee

Zinchenko is in his final year of contract at the Emirates. Ajax’s plan was to sign him on loan in January and convince him to join them permanently at the end of the season.

Arteta’s side are looking to sell him in this window, rather than receive a loan fee. According to Verweij, there are fresh talks between Arsenal and the Dutch club for a permanent transfer. There’s no mention of a figure, but the Gunners are negotiating for a fee.

Verweij claims the ‘ball is in Arsenal’s court’, meaning they need to make a final decision.

Ajax are still expecting the transfer to go through as Zinchenko’s medical is delayed, likely later this week.
