Palmer rumoured to be heading to Kenilworth Road
Luton Town have been linked with a move for Hull City midfielder Kasey Palmer in the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old started out with Charlton Athletic as a youngster, before moving to Chelsea’s academy in 2013, although didn’t make a first team appearance during his time at Stamford Bridge, going on to have loan spells with Huddersfield Town, Derby County and Blackburn Rovers, before heading to Bristol City temporarily in January 2019.
Having made 17 outings for the Robins, he turned the switch into a permanent one in August 2019 for a fee of around £3.5m, staying for three years at Ashton Gate, featuring over 50 times. Palmer had a brief stint with Swansea City in the 2020-21 campaign, before joining Coventry CIty for an undisclosed fee in June 2022. He played 75 times for the Sky Blues in two years, scoring nine goals, then joining Hull City in August 2024, signing a three year contract and featuring on 37 occasions for the Tigers, scoring once.

This term, he has been restricted to just 249 minutes of league, suffering a knee problem recently, although was back in the squad at Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day, the first time he had been included since being taken off at half-time in the 2-2 draw with Preston North End on September 30.
Palmer, who has suffered with hamstring injuries in the past few seasons, came on in the 1-0 win at Middlesbrough and also the 1-0 defeat to Stoke City on New Year's Day, before being on the bench for the 2-1 win at Southampton on Saturday, also getting 82 minutes in the penalty shootout victory over Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup third round earlier this month.
Speaking in October, Tigers head coach Sergej Jakirovic admitted he doesn’t know what the future held for the midfielder after he was left out of the squad against Sheffield United following his half-time substitution of the 2-2 draw with Preston a few days earlier. Speaking to Hull Live at the time, he said: “He (Palmer) was not ready for this game. Not ready. Not easy. What I said, not ready. Not mentally ready. We have a lot of players, so I mean, at least I can give you a chance. You need to show your quality on the pitch. No one is above the club for me. I have no problems with that. He's a professional player, we pay him, so he needs to give everything for this club and this team."
Having played for England at U17 to U21 level, Palmer then switched his international allegiances to Jamaica in 2021, making his full international debut in a 4-1 loss to the United States, while he scored his first goal during a 3-2 win against Trinidad and Tobago during the 2025 Unity Cup, making three appearances in the World Cup qualifiers this season.
Hull Live are now reporting that the midfielder is not expected to be part of the Tigers’ squad to face Preston North End at Deepdale this evening as he is in discussions with the Hatters about moving to Kenilworth Road for the rest of the campaign, although Town won’t have an option to buy if the deal goes through.
