Arsenal are interested in signing Inter Milan left-back Federico Dimarco, according to reports in the Italian media.
Tuttosport claim that the Gunners have “set their eyes” on recruiting the 28-year-old, who has won a league title and reached two Champions League finals during his time with the Nerazzurri.

Dimarco has less than 18 months left on his contract, and his team are said to be keen on extending his stay at the San Siro.
However, the Premier League leaders’ involvement could complicate matters. At the moment, Tuttosport report that, while Mikel Arteta’s side have a “real interest” in the defender, it is only in the “embryonic stage”, so the feeling is that, if Inter can tie him down to a new deal soon, it could block a transfer away from Italy.
Arsenal are not the only English team who have explored a transfer
Manchester United were also said to be weighing up a move for Dimarco. The Italian international has usually been deployed as a wingback during his time at Inter.
For that reason, he had been identified as a potential target when Ruben Amorim was still in charge at Old Trafford. The Portuguese’s subsequent departure and the return to a back four means Dimarco is no longer needed.
The Dimarco links do raise concerns about Lewis-Skelly’s future
If you look at Arsenal’s first-team squad, there isn’t really any desperate need for another left-back. Arteta has the likes of Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapie and Myles Lewis-Skelly at his disposal.
However, Calafiori has had his injury issues, while Hincapie’s best position is centre-half, so a move for Dimarco may be considered for that reason.
It does raise more questions about Lewis-Skelly’s status in the squad. Arteta has preferred to use Jurrien Timber out of position, rather than select the teenager in recent games.
If Dimarco were to be signed, it would push the England international even further down the pecking order.
