What should’ve been an easy win turned into a tough night for Golden State on Monday. Jimmy Butler went down with a serious knee injury during the Warriors’ 135-112 win over Miami.
The injury happened in the third quarter when Butler landed wrong and grabbed his right knee right away. He got helped off the court and went straight to the locker room.

He didn’t come back. But the Warriors closed it out and got the win, though the fans were much focused on Butler’s status.
ESPN’s Shams Charania recently dropped the update that imaging confirmed the worst. Butler tore his right ACL and he’s out for the season.

“Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler has suffered a season-ending torn right ACL, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote.
It’s surely a brutal blow for a Warriors team that had bigger plans this year. Butler was cooking before he got hurt against his old team. In just over 21 minutes, he put up 17 points with four assists, three rebounds, and two steals.

Losing him is going to sting. The veteran forward has been solid all season long.

Through 37 games, Butler’s been averaging 20.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists while shooting 51 percent from the field. Only Curry scores more for Golden State, and Butler affects the game on both sides of the floor.
He’s also stayed healthy until now. With Butler done, the Warriors are going to need other guys to step up and fill that gap.
