Liverpool now readying serious offer to sign "incredible" winger in £80m+ deal - report

Liverpool are now reportedly preparing a serious offer to sign an attacking star after entering pole position to secure his signature this summer.

Carragher: Slot has gone "too far" with Liverpool fix

Liverpool are in a difficult place right now. On paper, this is a side on an unbeaten run which stretches across 12 games in all competitions. But that only tells part of the story. The run has featured four draws in the last five and a style of football often designed to avoid defeat rather than secure a scintillating victory.

The 1-1 draw against Burnley was slightly different. Liverpool had plenty of opportunities to kill the game, but it was one poor result too many for those at Anfield, who booed Arne Slot's side at full-time.

Arne-Slot-1

Former centre-back and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has now had his say, claiming that Slot's initial fix has gone "too far" and the Reds are playing with the handbrake on.

He said on Monday Night Football: “I think Liverpool played really well and sometimes you have to accept you don’t get the result that you really deserve, which Liverpool did. I don’t think this game in isolation reflects what we’ve seen over the last couple of months.

“The dilemma for every manager in every team in every league is balance between attack and defence. The balance wasn’t right at the start of the season. It felt too much in the attacking sense and Liverpool were leaving themselves open at the back, end-to-end games, lots of goals.

"Arne Slot has stopped that. He has stopped the defeats, but the balance has almost gone too far one way."

Bigger talent than Guehi: Liverpool genuine contenders to sign £78m defender

Liverpool are getting ready to make sweeping defensive changes this year.

Just how Liverpool get back to their free-flowing best is the big question and a question which could be answered in the transfer market. They've already been linked with a shock move for Vinicius Junior, but are more likely to target RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande.

Liverpool preparing serious Yan Diomande offer

As reported by Caught Offside, Liverpool are now preparing a serious offer to sign Diomande from Leipzig in the summer. The Bundesliga club value their star winger at a hefty €100m (£87m), which means that the Reds will have to spend big for the second summer on the bounce to improve their frontline.

Diomande would be well worth the investment, however. The 19-year-old has been excellent in Germany this season and is yet to even reach the peak of his powers.

Dubbed an "incredible player in the making" by talent scout Jacek Kulig earlier this month, Diomande could yet become Liverpool's replacement for Mohamed Salah, whose future is still in question ahead of the summer.

The teenager has shown his goalscoring ability at times this season, netting seven in 18 games, and that could become more defined with a summer switch to Anfield.
