When Chelsea parted ways with Enzo Maresca, Liam Rosenior was not the only manager on their shortlist to replace him.
It has been reported that Chelsea interviewed Filipe Luis, who played for the Blues back in the 2014/15 season.
Luis is doing an excellent job as Flamengo boss and even led his side to victory against Chelsea at the Club World Cup.
What do you make of this, Chelsea fans?🤔

It is thought that the decision makers at Stamford Bridge also considered another name before eventually taking Rosenior from Strasbourg.

Chelsea considered Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac
Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United are on the lookout for a new permanent manager and are believed to have Borussia Dortmund boss Niko Kovac on their radar.
However, it appears that the 54-year-old could have actually ended up at Chelsea instead of Rosenior.
According to Sky Sport, Kovac’s name was discussed internally at Chelsea after Maresca’s departure.

There has been a lot of business done between Chelsea and Dortmund in recent years, including 2025.
Last summer, Dortmund signed Carney Chukwuemeka from their English counterparts and also loaned Aaron Anselmino.
Amid their search for a new central defender, some Chelsea fans are calling for Anselmino to be recalled and added to Rosenior’s squad.

Niko Kovac’s CV compared to Liam Rosenior’s
Without a doubt, Kovac would have been less of a gamble than Rosenior. Kovac is a more experienced manager who has been a success in Germany.
In the 2018/19 season, Kovac won the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich. The same campaign, the Croatian also got his hands on the DFB-Pokal, a trophy he had previously won at Eintracht Frankfurt.
In contrast, Rosenior is yet to win any major honours, which is understandable. He is still only 41 and has not had too many managerial jobs.
Hopefully he can change that this term and land his first piece of silverware as a manager with Chelsea. The Blues are not in the title race and the Champions League seems unlikely, but maybe they can enjoy some success in the League Cup or FA Cup.
