Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo can't play for Man City in the Champions League yet | Manchester City FC
Manchester City face Bodo/Glimt in the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola's side will hope to bounce back from their dismal weekend defeat to Manchester United, but they will have to do so without the help of either of their January signings. Semenyo has already made three appearances since he joined from AFC Bournemouth earlier in the month, while Guehi has yet to feature for his new club after he completed his move from Crystal Palace at the start of the week.
City could be boosted by the availability of both players when they return to Premier League action against Wolves this weekend, but they will not be able to call upon either of them for their match in the Arctic Circle tonight. Here is a look at why they can't be selected in the Champions League.

Why Guehi and Semenyo can't play for Man City tonight
Man City are unable to select either Marc Guehi or Antoine Semenyo for their Champions League fixture against Bodo/Glimt later tonight. The pair were each signed in the January transfer window and Champions League rules state that players added during the winter window are ineligible for the league phase of the competition.
City had to submit an A-List of players for the first phase of the tournament back in September, with a maximum of 25 players allowed to be registered. The Blues would be allowed to update that list if they reach the knockout stages of the competition, but it means new signings can not feature in their penultimate match against Bodo/Glimt or their final league phase match against Galatasaray next week.
Champions League rules state that any club that qualifies for the knockout round can register a maximum of three new players before 5 February 2026. It means City will be able to add Guehi, Semenyo and another player to their A-List for the remainder of the competition if they wish to do so.
City can still update their B-List before each matchday, which allows the club to register as many players as they like as long as they were born on or after January 1, 2004, have been registered with the club for an uninterrupted period of two years, or a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year. Rico Lewis and Nico O'Reilly are both already on that list, while Max Alleyne will be added after he returned from loan earlier in the month.
Man City confirm 21-man travelling squad vs Bodo/Glimt

Pep Guardiola is still without long-term absentees Mateo Kovacic, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Oscar Bobb and Savinho, while Nico Gonzalez is still not available after he missed the last two matches.
Matheus Nunes has still not recovered from the flu that caused him to miss the weekend defeat to Manchester United, but it is hoped he will be back to face former side Wolves this weekend. City are also without Bernardo Silva due to suspension.
