Rennes boss Beye has opened up on the future of Jermey Jacquet, amid the reports that the French defender is set to complete his move to Chelsea this January transfer window.
CHELSEA have been linked with alot of players over the past few weeks, and some big names have been mentioned, but it seems that Jacquet is the clubs number one transfer target and the board have been working hard to secure a deal.
It has been claimed that the player has asked to join Chelsea, the club have come to an agreement over a deal for the defender and it was only a matter of time before an announcement was made by the clubs hierarchy.
And asked for an update on Jacquet’s situation after Sunday’s Ligue 1 contest, Rennes boss Beye told reporters: ‘I believe that today he is a very important player for our objectives.
‘If tomorrow we were to let him go, we would have to lower our expectations. When you have offers from such a club, it can make things a little hesitant.
‘I’m very firm on this situation. He is an essential player for us.’
‘He is one of the best players in our team and so we have to resist that approach,’ the ex-Newcastle and Aston Villa full-back added.
‘There are several factors I don’t control in all of this. We’ll see what happens in the coming days.’

We have said it before and we will say it again, Jacquet is a very young talented defender that has the potential to go on and be a big player for CHELSEA, but he is not ready for this move.
He needs to stay put and develop for the next few seasons, and when he gains more time on the pitch, then make that move. It does not need to happen right now at this stage of his career.
