Gabriel Jesus Reveals Stance On Arsenal Future As Contract Reaches Final 18 Months

**Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has confirmed that he wants to “extend” his contract with the Gunners.**

There is less than 18 months remaining on his current deal, and speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Champions League clash [**against Inter Milan**](https://goonernews.com/blog/arsenal-predicted-lineup-vs-inter/), Jesus said:

“I think my first target is to be healthy. This is my fourth season at Arsenal, and maybe I play one and half, two seasons. I used to ask myself why? Now I don’t ask myself anymore.”

“My wish is to stay at Arsenal, and then I have a contract as well. Obviously, if you ask me, I want to extend my contract, I want to stay, I want to win trophies.”

Injuries have plagued the forward’s time at Arsenal

---------------------------------------------------

Despite joining from Manchester City for £45m in the summer of 2022, Jesus has made only 107 appearances since then.

Various knee injuries have curtailed his game time, with the ACL he sustained last January keeping the 28-year-old sidelined for the best part of 11 months.

Jesus seems to have come to terms with his fitness issues, and he has been fit and healthy for the last six weeks or so, and the hope will be that things stay that way.

Will Jesus get a new contract?

------------------------------

The Brazilian international is currently earning £265,000 a week, which makes him the second-highest earner in the squad behind Kai Havertz.

Bukayo Saka’s impending contract extension is expected to bump Jesus down to third, but even so, he is still earning more than the likes of captain Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, Declan Rice and Gabriel.

Unless Jesus is prepared to take a significant pay cut, which puts him more in line with what other squad players get, it is likely that he will part ways with the Gunners on a free transfer at the end of next season.
