Chelsea have reportedly enquired to sign former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez. The Blues are keen on bolstering their attack and see the Argentina forward as a perfect fit.

According to a report in SPORT, Chelsea are looking to take advantage of Atlético Madrid's situation, where no player is reportedly guaranteed a future with the club. Rojiblancos are looking for a rebuild and have made most of their squad available for transfer in 2026.

Liam Rosenior's side have Liam Delap and Joaoa Pedro as their forward right now, with Emmanuel Emegha to join in the summer from Strasbourg. They are still keen on Alvarez and have retained their interest in the forward since his days at Manchester City.

The Argentine forward spoke about the possibility of leaving Atlético Madrid earlier this season, and did not close the door. He said:

"Look, it doesn't bother me. I try not to pay much attention, but I know what's being said. It's all over social media. I think it's more what's being said online than what's actually happening. I'm very focused on this season, on what lies ahead with Atlético Madrid. So, I try to tune it out and think about myself, about continuing to grow as a player, and about winning."

Apart from Chelsea, Barcelona are also interested in the 25-year-old. They were among the clubs battling to sign him from Manchester City, but could not pursue their interest due to financial constraints.

The Catalan side are now back in the mix as they look for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. The Polish star is expected to leave at the end of the season, when his contract expires, and Alvarez is seen as a perfect addition.

The Spanish side have set a €100 million price tag on Alvarez.

Julian Alvarez open to joining Chelsea

Julian Alvarez is reportedly open to leaving Atlético Madrid this year and heading back to the Premier League. According to a report in the Daily Mail, the former Manchester City star is open to making the move to Chelsea.

The 25-year-old, who scored 36 goals in his spell at Manchester City, is close to Chelsea vice-captain Enzo Fernandez. The forward has revealed that they are roommates when they are with the national team, having been friends since they played together at River Plate.

His move to Atletico Madrid has not gone as planned, though he has scored more goals at the club than he managed with the Premier League side.
