Mo Salah returned to Liverpool training ahead of the Reds’ Champions League match, away at Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday, but Ibrahima Konate was absent.
Mohamed Salah’s return: A quick look
• Training return: Mohamed Salah trained in Kirkby on Tuesday following Egypt’s fourth-place finish at the 2025/26 AFCON tournament.
• Marseille trip: The No. 11 is expected to travel for Wednesday’s crucial Champions League clash after playing six games for Egypt
• Attack boosted: Arne Slot welcomes Salah’s return to bolster an attack currently missing Alexander Isak through injury.
Liverpool trained in Kirkby on Tuesday lunchtime, before their flight to Marseille for their penultimate Champions League league phase match of the campaign.
Konate missed training because he is in France for family reasons, reported journalist James Pearce. It is unknown whether he will be able to play on Wednesday night.
With the Reds likely needing four points from their final two games to finish in the top eight, there is pressure on Arne Slot‘s side to get something before Qarabag visit Anfield next week.
After their fourth consecutive league draw, Liverpool have received a boost with Salah returning from AFCON to bolster Slot’s attacking options.

Of course, the relationship between Salah and the coach may not be completely harmonious, but Slot did say he was “happy” for the Egyptian to be returning.
“Similar to Andy [Robertson], Mo has been so important for this club, for me, so I’m happy that he’s back,” Slot commented.
“Even if I had 15 attackers I still would have been happy that he comes back, but that’s not our current situation. Happy to have him back.”
Liverpool have played seven games since Salah left for AFCON. In the same time period, he played six full sets of 90 minutes, plus half an hour of extra time in the round of 16, as Egypt finished fourth.

At the time of training, we don’t yet know if Salah will be a part of the squad on the Cote Bleue.
However, we do know that Salah’s Egypt teammate, Omar Marmoush, is a part of Man City‘s travelling squad to face Bodo/Glimt in Norway on Tuesday.
By that logic, you would expect Liverpool’s No. 11 to at least travel with the team.
