The Philadelphia 76ers have been surprisingly good so far this season. Right now, they sit fifth in the Eastern Conference standings. Despite Joel Embiid looking like a shell of his MVP self, the 76ers look like a formidable opponent.

A big reason for that has been the evolution of Tyrese Maxey. He has taken his game to a whole new level. He was recently rewarded for that by being named a starter for the All-Star game. Maxey is putting up the best stats of his career and is now the best player on the team.

Maxey has made the turn into stardom, and he is on the cusp of superstardom. His play has been so impressive this season that he is now getting something that is only reserved for the true greats in the game of basketball.

76ers Guard Tyrese Maxey To Get Signature Shoe

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Maxey is now getting his own signature shoe from New Balance. The shoe will debut later this year. He will have a signature shoe line from now on with the company, showing the faith that New Balance has in him.

With Maxey taking this leap, the Sixers have the 12th-best net rating in the NBA. Philly has hardly been able to get Maxey, Embiid, and Paul George on the court all together at once, too. If they could get all three players healthy at the same time, they would be even more formidable.

Philadelphia struck gold when it drafted him 21st overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. Since that moment, he has continued to get better every year. This season, his stats are up across the board, making him even harder to defend on the offensive end of the court.

New Balance has another player who has a signature shoe on its roster of athletes. They also have Cooper Flagg, who had his first shoe released in October to coincide with his rookie season. Flagg is projected to be one of the best players in the league in a few years.

The 76ers Could Be Dangerous in the Playoffs

With Maxey playing at this high level, the Sixers could be a dangerous team to face in the playoffs. Health is the key factor for them. So far this season, Embiid has played in only 23 games. George has played in the same number of games.

Keeping both of those players healthy and on the floor with Maxey and promising rookie V.J. Edgecombe is the key to them having a shot to compete in the Eastern Conference playoffs. They likely won’t make any moves at the trade deadline because finding a deal to match salaries would be too hard.

Maxey’s offensive prowess and straight-line speed make him a dangerous point guard. His ability to get downhill in a hurry makes him almost impossible to stop when he has a full head of steam.
