The Jeremy Jacquet and Chelsea links continue to linger as the Blues look to strengthen their options at the heart of the defence.
Chelsea have set themselves a priority of signing a central defender during the January transfer window, but they’re coming into some issues when it comes to Jeremy Jacquet.
One of the main issues is the fact that Rennes doesn’t actually want the defender to leave, and is holding out for a massive fee.
As is typical with the January transfer window, deals are hard to do as no one wants to lose their key players in a market that can be so unforgiving.
However, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if the Jacquet move doesn’t develop, as the Blues have got two other central defenders on their list to turn to.

Liam Rosenior refuses to say much on Jeremy Jacquet
It’s normal for managers to keep things tight-lipped when it comes to potential signings, but the fact that Liam Rosenior didn’t deny it suggests it is definitely a deal the club are working on.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with Pafos, the Chelsea boss had this to say:
“I don’t speak about players at other clubs. Until something is agreed then I think it is so disrespectful. Whether it is true or not. I will speak about it at the right time.”
It remains to be seen as to whether Chelsea can get a deal over the line for Jacquet, but the most important thing is that the player has given his approval.
