Liam Rosenior reveals Raheem Sterling transfer timeline after'really good'Chelsea meeting

Liam Rosenior has provided an update on the futures of Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling ahead of Chelsea's clash against Pafos in the UEFA Champions League. The duo were omitted from the first-team at the end of the summer transfer window after they failed to find new clubs.

Until November, Disasi trained separately from the first-team at Cobham. After impressing staff behind the scenes, the France international began featuring for the development squad.

He led the Chelsea Under-21s to a 4-1 win over Reading in the Premier League 2 on his debut before suffering back-to-back defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica in the Premier League International Cup Under-21. Disasi, who still has three-and-a-half-years or so left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, has since returned to first-team training.

As for Sterling, whose deal expire in June 2027, he's still yet to be seen anywhere near Rosenior's squad. Speaking to reporters at Cobham on Tuesday afternoon, the Blues boss provided an update on the duo.

Rosenior revealed that he recently had a 'really good meeting' with Disasi, while suggesting that Sterling's future will be resolved in 'next couple of days'. He said: "My decision on Axel; I had a really good meeting with him a couple of days ago.

"I said to the players when I came in that it's a clean slate for everybody so it was only right for me to chat with him. He's behind in terms of his fitness, his match fitness and we'll work with him.

"We're in conversations with Raheem at the moment about different things going on in his career. Hopefully that will be clearer in the next couple of days."

Last week, Rosenior pledged to speak to Disasi and Sterling, who joined Chelsea during the 2023/24 season for £38.5m and £47.5m respectively. The Blues boss said: "I will have conversations with them.

"We're in January, as you know. Raheem's had an outstanding career. I've got huge respect for him. Axel is someone I've really, really liked as a player for a long time.

"Honestly, I have to have a conversation with them. I have to have a conversation with the club. I'm being genuinely honest. I literally have got to work through a list of priorities. I will do in the next few days."
