Arsenal are eyeing a deal to sign Inter Milan star Federico Dimarco this month in an ambitious deal, according to Fichajes.
The Gunners have had a tremendous season and currently sit top of the Premier League table, seven points clear of closest challengers Aston Villa and Manchester City, while they also have a 100% record in the Champions League, have one foot in the Carabao Cup final and have progressed in the FA Cup too.
But manager Mikel Arteta is still not content with his squad and is looking to strengthen before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, and a new left-back is being considered.
Arsenal Eyeing £43.5m Deal for Dimarco
Federico Dimarco
Dimarco, who has been described as 'one of the best wide players in the world', has been a regular at Inter Milan for several seasons and is a key part of their 3-5-2 system as their first-choice left wing-back.
But with Myles Lewis-Skelly struggling to make an impact in his second season of first-team football, and long-term plans having him moving back into midfield, plus Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori both having their fair share of injury problems this season, a new left-back is being considered.
Arsenal want to make a 'definitive leap of quality' in their squad to compete for all their titles, and they see the Italy international as the ideal piece to the jigsaw. It's understood that Inter value him at around €50m (£43.5m), and while other clubs are also interested should he leave the Serie A giants, it's believed that a move to Arsenal would be his preference if he decides to move abroad.
The Gunners have already made contact to gauge his interest and the minimal financial demands involved in a deal, as they ponder making a surprise swoop this month. Inter don't want to lose him, and are prepared to offer him a new contract until 2029 to fend off interest.
Arsenal Move for Dimarco is Overkill

Arsenal have got a number of quality options in every position all over the pitch currently, and the defence is one position they absolutely don't need any immediate reinforcements in.
They already have the best defensive record in the Premier League, and while Lewis-Skelly hasn't been in the best form, everyone has already seen the level of performance he can deliver if given the opportunity. You then have Calafiori and Hincapie who have been excellent too, and that makes any deal for Dimarco just overkill.
While he's excellent, he's more of a wing-back than a left-back and putting him into a back four could see his levels drop too. It's a deal that isn't necessary right now, and the club should instead look at a way to improve their attacking threat outside of set-pieces.
