Khris Middleton future with Wizards revealed

Khris Middleton, 34, is likely to remain with the Washington Wizards through the Feb. 5 trade deadline before becoming a buyout candidate.

Washington Wizards three-time All-Star forward Khris Middleton is reportedly a buyout candidate, according to Josh Robbins of The Athletic.

"Middleton, 34, has shown some signs of life lately, but no longer looks like a potential difference-maker for a contending team," Robbins wrote.

"The majority of league sources whom The Athletic spoke with said they think Middleton's most likely outcome is to remain with the Wizards through the deadline and be a buyout candidate," the reporter added.

This season, Middleton is averaging 9.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists while shooting 32.5% from three-point range.

The 14-year NBA veteran was traded to Washington in a four-team deal just before the February 6, 2025, deadline that sent Kyle Kuzma to Milwaukee.

Middleton is an NBA champion with the Bucks, winning it all in 2021. That season, he averaged 20.4 points in the regular season and 23.6 points across 23 playoff games.

This trade season, the Wizards have already made a major move, acquiring Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert.
