**AC Milan had a presence at the NBA Europe meeting in London this week, and both Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic offered their opinion.**
Talks of a mega European basketball league have been going on for some time now, and it would combine famous clubs from across the continent. Milan and Inter, therefore, could compete alongside Olimpia Milano.
Alternatively, there have been suggestions that [**the Rossoneri could combine with Olimpia**](https://sempremilan.com/milan-olimpia-present-nba-europe-meeting-no-inter) to face off against other major football clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and several others.
It would be an expensive project, indeed, with the buy-in supposedly set around €500 million, but there have been a few suggestions it could cost up to €1 billion.
Ibrahimovic and Cardinale back NBA Europe
-----------------------------------------
Given his knowledge of US Sports, Gerry Cardinale was in attendance alongside his right-hand man, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as [Gazzetta dello Sport](https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Serie-A/Milan/20-01-2026/nba-europe-il-progetto-milan-le-parole-di-ibra-e-cardinale.shtml?refresh_ce) writes today. In fact, the pair actually spoke in the meeting, as the report relays.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: “I’m convinced that if the NBA comes up with an idea and a business model and combines it with European fans, the perfect partnership will be born. That’s why we’re here: to make it magical and successful. And because we believe in it.”
Gerry Cardinale: “I think it will be incredibly successful: if we do it well, it could become one of the best things ever to happen to sports.”
