Liverpool fans have been handed good news in the midst of a difficult run of form. The Reds were most recently held 1-1 by Burnley at home to mark a fourth consecutive draw in the league.

Despite Arne Slot's side currently riding a 12-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, many of the performances have flattered to deceive, leading to public disappointment.

The unrest from the Anfield faithful was heard at full-time against the Clarets as boos rang round the stadium in what was another missed opportunity to strengthen their position in the Champions League places.

It's been a dismal season so far for Tottenham who sit a lowly 14th in the table with Thomas Frank's position as head coach under serious pressure. With just two league wins since November, Spurs have failed to build on their Europa League title-winning campaign which could hold repercussions when wanting to keep their best players.

Since his £43million transfer from Wolfsburg in 2023, Micky van de Ven has established himself as one of the league's best defenders. Spurs' struggles coupled with Liverpool lacking in defensive options have resulted in reports that the reigning league champions were preparing a £78m move for the Dutch international.

Especially after missing out on Marc Guehi who clinched his move to Manchester City on Monday, a move for Van De Ven has been seconded by former Chelsea and Spurs star Jason Cundy. Speaking on talkSPORT, he insisted the Dutchman is the perfect fit for the Reds, as he said: "Here’s the thing, if I’m Liverpool I’m going after Van de Ven.

"That’s what I would do, I would absolutely go all out. They lost out on Guehi, Van de Ven is the next big thing at centre-half. He’s perfect for Liverpool if they want to play a high line. I’m going straight after him."

Reds star confirms contract talks

Arguably Liverpool's best player this season, Dominik Szoboszlai has confirmed that contract talks are underway to extend the midfielder's stay at Anfield. However, the Hungary captain made sure to state that there is no guarantee a new deal with the Reds will be inked.

A shining light in what has been a hugely disappointing title defence, Szoboszlai has garnered much praise for his consistent performances in various positions while coming into his own as a leader at club level.

The 25-year-old signed a five-year deal upon his £60m move to Anfield in 2023 with the club wanting to reward him for his development since then. When asked whether talks have been opened over a new contract, he answered: "Of course, but there are always talks.

"You guys in the media make a lot for the people (public) and you keep on going because that's your job but there has been talks but for sure not any decision has been made. There is always progress but no decision has been made and I'll just keep on going every week, every training, giving my best for the team, for the fans.
