Ashley Cole made a name for himself at Chelsea, but he believes that one of his former teammates was even better than he was.
Ashley Cole enjoyed a highly decorated eight-year career at Chelsea from 2006 to 2014, making 338 appearances and scoring 7 goals. During this time, he established himself as one of the world’s best left-backs, helping the club win almost every major trophy available.
This included one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Europa League, one Premier League title, four FA Cups, and one League Cup.
Most Chelsea supporters will remember his crucial role in the Double-winning season, and he was twice named the Chelsea Players’ Player of the Year (2008/09 and 2010/11).
Even Joao Cancelo claimed that Ashley Cole was better than Kyle Walker, and he played with the former Manchester City man.

Ashley Cole picks John Terry as the Premier League’s best ever defender
Thiago Silva, Ricardo Carvalho, and Marcel Desailly are just a few world-class names that used to slot into the defence at Chelsea, but you could have probably guessed who he went for.
Mr. Chelsea, John Terry, is the man that Ashley Cole claims to be the best defender in Premier League history, and he played with some incredible defenders, even at Arsenal.
Just to think he played with the likes of Sol Campbell and Kolo Toure.
Speaking to TNT Sports, the former defender said it was ‘so tough’ but went with Terry.

Chelsea could really do with John Terry’s leadership right now
When fans say Chelsea needs a John Terry, they aren’t just talking about a world-class defender, they are talking about a captain and leader.
Chelsea currently have a rather inexperienced pool of players that when things get tough, no one really seems to rise above and lead by example. Not since Thiago Silva left Stamford Bridge.
With BlueCo and Clearlake involved at Chelsea, a manager change is only around the corner. The same was often said during Roman Abramovich’s era at times. But Terry was the constant spine of the club that kept the identity regardless of who was in the dugout.
So, with the club currently undergoing a so-called youth project, there is a desperate need for a homegrown leader who understands the club’s DNA to act as a bridge between the fans and the new ownership, as Liam Rosenior already seems a bit of a ‘yes man’.
