Warriors could trade Jimmy Butler after ACL injury, per report

The Golden State Warriors may consider trading six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler, who is out for the season with a torn ACL, despite being under contract through 2026-27.

The Golden State Warriors could explore trading six-time All-Star forward Jimmy Butler ahead of the February 5 deadline, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

"All options will be on the table for the Warriors with nearly two weeks before the trade deadline, including the possibility of trading Butler to try to maximize their championship push this season," Siegel reported.

Butler, who is earning $54.1 million this season and $56.8 million in 2026-27 before becoming an unrestricted free agent, was diagnosed with a torn right ACL after Monday night's win over the Miami Heat.

He will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

The Warriors acquired Butler in a five-team trade on February 6, 2025, which sent a package headlined by Andrew Wiggins to the Miami Heat.

When he returns from this severe knee injury, Butler is projected to be 37 years old. This season, he has averaged 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 38 games.
