Things went from bad to worse for City when Rodri was shown two yellow cards in quick succession to reduce City to ten men.
Rayan Cherki pulled one back for the visitors with a low, deflected strike but it proved to make little difference, with City’s hopes of making it into the top eight and securing automatic progression to the Champions League round of 16 suffering a blow.
