The San Antonio Spurs will have Victor Wembanyama participating in All-Star Weekend. Despite the number of games he has missed this season, he will be an All-Star starter. He has been one of the most impactful players in the NBA when he has been on the floor.

Right now, the Spurs sit second in the Western Conference standings. Wembanyama has transformed the team into a title contender this year, which is just his third year in the league. This has been his most efficient season yet, and all of his stats are up.

Wembanyama is very competitive and is excited about the new All-Star Game format. He has a warning for his opponents once he gets on the floor.

Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama Gives Stern Warning to All-Star Game Opponents

While speaking to the media in French, Wembanyama made sure to let everyone know that he will be playing with effort during the All-Star Game.

“I want to push the great players of this sport to play in the All-Star game just as hard as I will. We’ll see how it goes, but if they don’t play hard, I’ll do it without them.”

Effort in the All-Star Game has been a topic of discussion for the last couple of years. Players have not been taking it seriously, which Commissioner Adam Silver has not been pleased with. That’s the reason why he decided to change the format of the game again this year.

Players used to take this game seriously. Now, players have been treating it like a joke. Many players don’t want to play hard because they don’t want to risk an injury. An injury during All-Star Weekend would be a disaster for many of these players and their corresponding teams.

Wembanyama is not concerned with that. As far as he’s concerned, he is going to try his hardest every time he is out on the court. It’s everyone else’s fault if they don’t want to match his energy level.

The Spurs Don’t Need to Make a Massive Trade at the Deadline

While so many other teams around the league need to make a move to be a true contender for the title, the Spurs are not one of those teams. After beating the Thunder three times in a row, they feel great about their chances of making the NBA Finals.

Wembanyama is a massive reason for that. The Spurs have the third-best defense in the league. His rim protection keeps the paint free of opponents driving to the rim. San Antonio also has the eighth-best offense in the league with Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox leading the way.

San Antonio has been seen as a possible suitor for Giannis Antetokounmpo if he became available. That doesn’t seem likely. The Spurs are more than content to stand pat and grow with the current young players on the roster.
