Needing a win and results to go our way elsewhere, Ben Wilkinson’s Young Blues couldn’t find a way past their French counterparts at the Joie Stadium.
Heading into the fixture after a morale-boosting 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig, there was early frustration for City as The Red and Whites opened the scoring early doors through Oumar Konate.
With our EDS looking for a leveller, it was the visitors who scored again, this time in first half stoppage time through Kevin Sitou leaving us a mountain to climb in the second period.
That task got even harder when Konate made it three with starlet forward Ryan McAidoo bagging a consolation before the final whistle blew.
