Adams was diagnosed with a Grade 3 ankle sprain and will be out indefinitely.
Steven Adams will be out indefinitely for the Houston Rockets.
In his pregame speech ahead of the Houston Rockets' Tuesday matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, Ime Udoka announced that Adams sustained a Grade 3 left ankle sprain.
The big man has no timetable to return, according to the Rockets head coach.
Adams collapsed to the ground and was in sheer pain after landing poorly on his left leg as he contested Zion Williamson's shot with over nine minutes left in the Rockets' 119-110 Sunday win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
He subsequently left the game and didn't return, finishing the night with five points and 10 boards in 27 minutes.
Adams has been an important frontcourt enforcer for the Rockets this year. He is averaging 5.9 points and 8.6 boards across 22.7 minutes in 31 games.
His absence would be brutal on the Rockets' center depth in backing up star center Alperen Sengun. Clint Capela is expected to step up with Adams unavailable significantly.
