The 2026 NBA All-Star starters were recently named and Minnesota Timberwolves‘ star Anthony Edwards was not named a starter.
Former three-time All-Star Gilbert Arenas had something to say about that. He went to social media and made a post on his Instagram account about Edwards not being named a starter.
“I don’t know who needs to go, but Ant-Man has to be there,” Arenas said. “If you got to take them off the East, I don’t know who, I don’t know, it’s not my job to tell you who don’t belong. Everybody’s balling, but I know Ant-Man belongs on the team.”
In the video, Arenas made it very clear that he believes Edwards should be a starter and he also made it know that the players who were listed as starters are having good seasons.
Anthony Edwards Case to be a Starter in the All-Star Game
Edwards has had a productive season so far and has a strong chance to be named a reserve for the All-Star game. Through 34 games, he’s averaging 29.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. He is fifth in the league in scoring.
Recently, Edwards set a career-high in points against the San Antonio Spurs. He scored 55 points shooting 19-for-33 from the field and knocking down nine three-pointers. Despite the loss, Edwards put together an impressive performance and showed why he’s one of the best in the league.
Edwards has a strong case to be a starter for the All-Star game, but only five can be selected from each conference. Julius Randle voiced his concern after finding out his teammate wasn’t named a starter. “AE5 a starter everyday of the week stop playing! Put his name in that MVP convo too. Did yall witness last game,” Randle said via X. Edwards also makes a strong case to be considered in the MVP conversation as well, as Randle mentioned in his post.
Anthony Edwards Set to Have Another Productive Season
The former No. 1 pick has put together a memorable career so far and he is not showing any signs of slowing down. Edwards has averaged 20 or more points in his last four seasons. He has become a prolific scorer and one of the most exciting players to watch in the league.
He’s led Minnesota to back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances and has helped his team become a serious contender out of the west. When Edwards is on the court, he puts his team in a position to win games. He’s the type of player who wants the ball in his hands when the game is on the line and he also does a good job of getting his teammates involved.
If Edwards finishes his career in Minnesota, he will go down as one of the greatest players in franchise history. This season, Minnesota is currently a top-five team in the west and has a strong chance of making the postseason again. With Edwards on the team, Minnesota is a team to always consider making a potential deep run in the playoffs. With the season Edwards is having this year, he has a strong case to make another All-NBA team.
