Liverpool has reportedly identified Micky van de Ven as a possible center-back signing during the 2026 summer transfer window.

The Netherlands international has emerged as one of the most highly rated central defenders in the Premier League since his 2023 transfer to Spurs, but he is not surrounded by players of a similar quality in North London. Van de Ven may have won the Europa League with Spurs last year but the team's Premier League form has been abysmal – Tottenham finished 17th last season and is currently 14th after 22 games of this season.

The player is deserving of playing for a team that is competing at the top end of the table, and Team Talk says that Liverpool could look to sign him later this year.

Van de Ven is contracted to Spurs until 2029, and he has a market value of $75 million, according to Transfermarkt – although Spurs reportedly values him at a significantly higher $105 million.

The Reds are in a precarious position at center-half, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez also into the last 18 months of their deals.

Van Dijk will turn 35 this year, too, while Gomez has been plagued by injuries throughout his time at Liverpool, and his fitness issues seem to be getting worse as he approaches 30.

Meanwhile, Caught Offside says that Liverpool is preparing a concrete approach to sign RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande.

It is claimed that of all the clubs that are interested in Diomande, Liverpool's interest is the strongest, as the Reds aim to bolster the squad with a new wide forward.

Liverpool sold Luis Diaz during last summer's transfer window, while the club also saw Antoine Semenyo join Manchester City earlier this month.

With Mohamed Salah turning 34 this year, Liverpool views Diomande as an exciting new signing who would bolster the club's attacking options.

Diomande recently made it clear that he wants to play for Liverpool in the future, saying on a live stream: "I want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a big fan of Liverpool. I’m a big fan of Liverpool because my father’s dream is to see me play at Anfield. So that’s my dream. You know, to fulfil my father’s dream is a dream for me too."

Leipzig has reportedly informed all interested parties that it will only entertain offers in excess of €100 million ($117 million) for Diomande.
