'Preferrable' option of Warriors after Jimmy Butler injury revealed, per insider

Per Marc Stein, keeping Jonathan Kuminga beyond the Feb. 5 trade deadline is the Warriors' "preferable" option after the Jimmy Butler ACL injury.

The Golden State Warriors are currently standing at a crossroads following the heartbreaking season-ending loss of Jimmy Butler due to a torn ACL injury.

Between now and the Feb. 5 trade deadline, the Warriors are set to make important decisions, one of which is their Jonathan Kuminga trade saga.

While many expect that the Warriors will fulfill Kuminga's trade demands, NBA insider Marc Stein revealed that the franchise is actually leaning towards keeping Kuminga, letting him play for the remainder of the season and finally making a deal once the offseason begins.

"Do they try to rush into some sort of move to get them through the rest of the season to replace some of what they’ve lost with Jimmy Butler out? Or do you bring Kuminga back for the rest of the season, maybe see if he can reestablish some trade value, pick up his year two option, and then try to trade him in the offseason or next season? That might be preferable than trying to make a move now," Stein reported.
