The focus for Chelsea’s transfer team will be getting a deal over the line for Jeremy Jacquet or another defender before the deadline, but that hasn’t stopped the drawing up of potential summer targets.
Right now, Chelsea require options in a few positions. But Jacquet hands Chelsea an option with huge promise at centre-back, but even he might not be what Chelsea need. Indeed, the Blues need experience.
Another central midfielder, one that can come in for Moises Caicedo, would be good business. A new goalkeeper has been wanted for years, while cover at right-back without Malo Gusto has been short.

Chelsea identify big-name striker signing Joe Cole loves
Liam Rosenior has a handful of decent strikers to choose from. Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Marc Guiu. Joe Hart said that Guiu is the perfect kind of player for Rosenior, because of the Spaniard’s work rate.
But Chelsea are known for having a big-name striker, and it’s something the club want to resurrect in the summer. According to reports, Chelsea are keeping an eye on former Man City striker Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez is said to be considering his future at Atleti this summer and Chelsea are willing to take a chance on the Argentine star. However, the report claims PSG also want to sign the striker in the coming months.
Speaking after his solo goal against Real Madrid in 2023, Joe Cole praised Alvarez and made a massive prediction. Cole was quoted in 2023 saying the World Cup winner is a potential Ballon d’Or winner soon.
“You won’t see a better goal in the Champions League. It’s beautiful, it’s sensational. He’s still only 25. I think we see the best of him over the next five years. I think he’s a Ballon d’Or winner in the future.”
What Julian Alvarez thinks about a move to England, and Chelsea
Given he has already won it all with Manchester City, what left is there to do for Alvarez in English football? Well, having starred at Man City, Alvarez may feel he starts week in, week out at Chelsea.

According to reports from Spain, Alvarez has a price tag worth £100m. A fee Chelsea would look to avoid spending in the summer, but certainly will be able to. Big-name strikers are like gold dust currently.
Alvarez has been on fire for Diego Simeone’s side, already having a hand in 16 goals in his 27 games for Atleti this season. While Alvarez may be tempted by a move, Atleti will do everything to keep him.
But Alvarez being open to the idea of a return to England is good news, with Chelsea likely to be his first landing spot. Whether Chelsea are willing to splash the cash in the summer, remains to be seen.
