Journalist explains how Chelsea now have big implications after latest round of UCL games

Chelsea now have some big implications after the latest round of Champions League games were played out last night.

The new format is a little confusing at times, but the bottom line is that at the moment for Chelsea, automatic qualification in the league phase is hanging on by a thread and it looks like they are going to need two wins in their next two games to do so.

Other results are always going to effect things as well, and after last night’s latest round of games, it is all at stake now for Napoli, as well as Chelsea.

And the issue here is, these two play each other soon and it’s become a very big game for both sides if they want to avoid the play-offs and go through to the knockout stages automatically.

Napoli only managed a 1-1 draw in their latest game in the Champions League last night, and journalist Nizaar Kinsella posted on X after the match:

‘Napoli now need to beat Chelsea to stay in the Champions League next week. Major slip up from them today. It’s quite clear from today that Chelsea will realistically need to win both games to avoid the play off.’

It’s going to be a tough couple of games for Chelsea, starting tonight at home against Pafos. They have to win this one first, it’s become pretty non-negotiable.

This situation might have been made even worse due to Tosin Adarabioyo now being out injured for a few weeks.
