'I agree': Milos Kerkez's worrying Liverpool admission as question asked of Arne Slot demands

Liverpool left-back Milos Kerkez spoke to the media ahead of the Champions League meeting with Marseille.

The Reds went into the gameweek sitting ninth in the table, aware they have to win their remaining two group matches if they want a good chance of finishing inside the top eight.

Liverpool only need to draw with Marseille to qualify for the league phase play-offs, which would give them a chance of making it into the last-16 but would also mean extra games.

However, based on their recent form under Arne Slot, fans may not be expecting more than a stalemate in France.

Liverpool tactical discipline a concern ahead of Marseille

Liverpool are on a 12-game unbeaten run, but have dropped far too many points against the likes of Leeds United (twice), Fulham, and Burnley.

Now, speaking at the pre-match press conference, Kerkez was asked about the team being ‘sloppy’ after 60 minutes of a game.

It’s been a common theme for Liverpool this season, including on Saturday when Burnley equalised after the 65th minute.

And Kerkez agreed with the assessment, suggesting the players lose tactical focus as the game goes on.

He said: “I agree with that, I don’t know after 60-70 [minutes] we always lose focus and lose some tactical discipline. I don’t know, we get tired, I am not sure whatever it is, but I agree with that.”

Milos Kerkez learning from Andy Robertson

After admitting tactical discipline is a problem, the Hungarian was asked about Slot’s demands.

He gave a blunt response before quickly praising fellow full-back Andy Robertson.

Kerkez said: “Different coaches have different philosophies. I do what he asks, I talked a lot with Robbo; he is a legend here, a big player, did a lot of stuff for the club. It is a privilege to be next to such a player, I am taking it in, learning.”

Robertson has largely been replaced as the first-choice left-back this season and is currently due to leave Liverpool on a free transfer when 2025/26 comes to a close.
