'Ready to do business immediately' - Fabrizio Romano drops update on Liverpool 'target'…

Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have been linked with Yan Diomande.

A ‘crazy battle’ for Yan Diomande could ensue in the summer, it has been suggested.

The winger is one of the hottest prospects in Europe. Diomande only joined RB Leipzig last summer from CD Leganes but has made hurtling progress. The 19-year-old has fired seven goals and four assists in 18 appearances.

According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur would be keen on signing Diomande in the January transfer window. Leipzig are a club that are open to sales, with Benjamin Sesko, Lois Openda and Xavi Simons leaving the Red Bull Arena last summer while Liverpool have signed Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai from the Saxony outfit in recent years.

But Leipzig are reluctant to sell Diomande this month as they aim for Champions League qualification. Romano said on YouTube: “The name of Yan Diomande continues to return in the news and in questions because he is considered one of the best young wingers in the world. However, RB Leipzig insist that they want to keep the player in January.

“Despite Manchester United sending scouts again and Tottenham being ready to do business immediately in January with an important financial proposal, Leipzig’s intention is clear.

“RB Leipzig insist that Diomande will not leave in this January window. They are not looking for money after making major sales in the summer, including Benjamin Sesko, Lois Openda and Xavi Simons.

“The message from Leipzig is that the player will stay in January, but in the summer it will be a crazy battle. Man Utd are sending scouts, Tottenham are involved and PSG are also following the player closely.”

“We saw the data and immediately knew that we had to take a detailed look at the player, both on video and in live matches, and that’s what we did,” Schafer said. “Our advantage was that we were there before he had even played 200 minutes in the league. We already knew he had the profile we were looking for that summer.

“We didn’t need to have five conversations about signing him because the profile was clear. It was a 100 per cent match from our side. It was clear to us that if we had the chance, we would go for it. When we started negotiations with Leganés, they said there was such high competition for the player that we needed to pay that amount if we wanted him.

“Leganés were clear, honest and transparent. It was a huge amount given where the player was at the time, but we knew he was our number-one favourite. We wanted the player, even if we had to pay a little more than many expected. We didn’t care, because it was an ideal situation. We were even in touch with Jürgen Klopp and Mario Gomez, who saw the data and video clips, and everybody said ‘go, go, go.’”
