Liverpool are back in Champions League action on Wednesday night yet rumours of potential new signings continue to swirl.

With just under a fortnight left of the January transfer window, there's still talk about the Reds bolstering their squad before the February 2 cut-off. Arne Slot's men are set to face off against Marseille in the Champions League this evening as Liverpool journey to clash with the Ligue 1 team.

Liverpool have already suffered two transfer setbacks this month, with Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi both choosing to ink deals with Manchester City, despite strong links suggesting they were Anfield-bound. Guehi was close to sealing a £35million move from Crystal Palace to Liverpool last summer, but the deal fell through, leaving Slot short of options at the back. Here's all the latest news from Anfield.

Andre 'offer'

Liverpool are once again linked with a bid for Wolves midfielder Andre, who was previously on their radar during his stint at Fluminense, reports the Mirror.

According to Brazilian news outlet RTI Esporte, Liverpool are still keen on signing the 24-year-old defensive midfielder, with a potential offer expected to be made in the summer.

Wolves, however, are said to be adamant on keeping the Brazil international at Molineux, and it's claimed any offer below £26m would be rejected.

In a separate development, Liverpool have reportedly dropped out of the running to sign Wolves' other Brazil midfielder, Joao Gomes, with Manchester United now leading the chase for his signature.

The Reds had previously been linked with Gomes, 24, in recent months, but Caught Offside reports they have "cooled" their interest in the star.

As a result, United are now being touted as the frontrunners to sign Gomes, while Crystal Palace are also being mentioned as a possible suitor for the former Flamengo ace.

Mohamed Salah is in line to make his Liverpool return at Marseille in a huge boost to the Reds who have struggled in front of goal in his absence.

The forward has been included in Slot’s travelling squad after re-joining his team-mates for training on Tuesday following his exploits at the Africa Cup of Nations. It follows his bust-up with Slot and the club in December after he was benched for three consecutive games.

That led to the 33-year-old being excluded from the squad for the 1-0 victory away against Inter Milan, before he featured in a 2-0 win over Brighton before heading to AFCON.

And speaking on Tuesday night, Slot said: “As normal as it’s always been, with one exception and that was Inter.

"Let’s see for the line-up tomorrow if you still think there’s an issue. I spoke to him today and I’m happy to have him back.

“There’s been a moment in the season where I decided not to play Mo and one moment where I decided not to take him to the game.

“For all the other games he’s been in the squad and was the first substitution against Brighton so at that moment of time, there’s never been an issue for me.”
