Martin O'Neill hasn't been shy about his demands for more recruits this month - and he looks set to finally land the striker he desires.

Julián Araujo's arrival from Bournemouth is the only new recruit in the door so far this month, but Borussia Monchengladbach hitman Tomas Cvancara is jetting in to Scotland to seal a loan switch with an option to buy. Record Sport understands the 25-year-old could be in place for Sunday’s top of the table clash with Hearts.

But despite a striker being O'Neill's top target, the Czech attacker doesn't appear to be the end of Celtic shopping for more firepower. A bid to bring in Mohamed Bamba from Lorient was kicked out by the Ligue 1 side, while David Datro Fofana is on the agenda.

The 22-year-old saw his loan at Turkish Super Lig side Fatih Karagümrük cut short by Chelsea as the Premier League giants look to offload the frontman permanently. The Celtic Way report that the Premier League giants are still awaiting an approach from the Scottish champions.

Leeds United's Joel Piroe was surprisingly linked with the Hoops earlier this month, given the 49ers' involvement at Elland Road and Rangers. It's unlikely Paraag Marathe would see a benefit in sanctioning a move that could potentially swing the title race in Celtic's favour.

Despite this, Voetbal International claim that the Dutchman "would not say no" to Celtic if given the chance to make the move. However, it is noted he "is not necessarily keen" on leaving Leeds in the winter window.

A centre-back also looks to be on O'Neill's shopping list with Eintracht Frankfurt defender Aurele Amenda on the agenda.

The Switzerland international – itching for a place in his country's World Cup squad – was an unused substitute in his side's 3-3 draw with Werder Bremen on Friday night.

It's understood the 6ft 6in defender wants to explore loan options and the Premiership champions are among the club's who would be keen to land the defender.

German outlet Bild report that Frankfurt want to bring in a replacement for towering Amenda before they allow the player to leave.

Asked about the potential exit, Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche said: "Further transfers? I won't say absolutely now or rule out the possibility that certain things might happen. We'll see."

A new winger appears to be on the agenda before February 2 - and Celtic are said to hold an interest in Girona’sYaser Asprilla.

Fichajes report that West Ham are leading the race for a loan deal - but Celtic are "fiercely competing" for the 22-year-old's signature.

It is claimed the La Liga side value the wide man at around £30million - but a more "affordable" loan fee will be accepted to allow the Colombia international to ramp up his game time.

O’Neill was among those who watched Tawanda Maswanhise - who can play on the wing or as a central striker - net his 15th goal of the season against Ross County last weekend.

Rangers and the Hoops have both been linked with a move for the Premiership's joint top scorer.

Teammate Stephen O’Donnell offered an update on the status of the Zimbabwe international on Tuesday to Go Radio, stating: "He trained today.

"Thankfully, with our players, there is some talk around a few and they are all under contract, and it's a really good position for Motherwell. If anyone wants to come and get them I'm sure it will be for a hefty fee, and the manager and Motherwell will come to some form of arrangement."
