Here is a roundup of the top Liverpool news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Aurélie Csillag, Micky Van De Ven and Quinten Timber that you may have missed…

There has been some fresh reports in the media which have again claimed that Tottenham star Micky Van De Ven has become a genuine contender to make the move to Liverpool, after the Reds missed out on Marc Guehi.

Guehi was a player that LIVERPOOL wanted last summer, he was a payer that they were close to signing, but then Palace put a stop to any possible transfer on the deadline days of the summer window.

This January presented the club with an opportunity to sign Guehi for a bargain £30 million, but instead, the Reds board made the decision to hold off any potential move and wait to sign the England defender at the end of the season for a free.

That delay prompted Manchester City to swoop in and offer Palace the money they wanted, offered Guehi the £200k-a-week wages that he wanted and he is now under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

That has meant that LIVERPOOL have started eyeing up potential alternatives for Guehi and According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven has emerged as a “genuine” contender to sign for the Anfield side in 2026.

The Dutchman is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and a player that has been heavily tipped to leave Tottenham at the end of the season, as he seeks to play in the Champions League and challenge for trophies, not at the bottom half of the table.

There was alot of LIVERPOOL fans that wanted to see Marc Guehi brought to the club, but if there is an opportunity to bring Van De Ven to the side to sit alongside the ageing Virgil Van Dijk, he would be a brilliant signing.

Tottenham are really struggling to keep their best players, and if the right clubs come calling, if the right offers arrive, players like Van De Ven will want to leave.

CSILLAG EXCITED

Aurélie Csillag explained how the decision to join Liverpool FC Women was one of the easiest of her life, after it was announced in the January window that the forward had made the move to Anfield.

She has won 12 senior international caps for Switzerland, scoring once, and arrives at Liverpool having made 14 appearances for Frauen-Bundesliga team Freiburg. Csillag scored four times for Freiburg this season and netted her first international goal in a friendly against Wales last month

She told the club website: ‘Yeah, I’m very excited, very happy that I have this possibility to join an amazing club. I had a really good feeling

”When I first heard of the club, I was very excited, I was probably a little bit shocked because Liverpool is such a big club with a lot of traditions and history. I was interested in the first second when I heard about LIVERPOOL. I was just excited to know more about this club.

‘For me, the [Barclays Women’s] Super League was always a dream. When I was a little child, I always wanted to play in the Super League. And then when I heard from LIVERPOOL, it was a nice city, a nice club, a lot of tradition and history, I didn’t have any doubts to join this winter.

‘The training centre is amazing. I’ve never seen a training centre in a women’s club like this. I was very, very surprised and very happy that I could see this and join this.

‘It’s a very professional club, so I would have a lot of possibilities to train on my weaknesses, on my physical [attributes] also because it’s a very physical league. With good players around me, for me it’s also a very big step personally.

‘I come as a striker, as a winger, so I can score goals, I can go in one-v-one and I can race my opponents. These are my strengths.

‘Yeah, I’m looking forward to playing against the big clubs. For me, it’s the best league in the world. It’s a big chance for me to show what I can do on the pitch in this league.’

TIMBER WANTS MOVE

Feyenoord midfielder and Liverpool transfer target Quinten Timber has launched a scathing attack on manager Robin van Persie, effectively confirming his departure from the club in a furious post-match outburst.

Following a derby defeat to Sparta Rotterdam, the 23-year-old accused the former Arsenal and Manchester United striker of failing to protect his squad and challenged him to deliver his criticisms face-to-face, declaring that he has “reached a limit” with the coach’s management.

“I just read about what was said before the match,” Timber fumed. “I think that’s a bit of a shame. That it has to go this way. It has happened a few times now that the trainer does not protect the player. In this case, with me. There is a limit. It is happening again now.”

“There is a lot going on, there is a lot of emotion involved, also with the supporters who are not happy with me now,” he explained. “I have always said in conversations that you want the best outcome for both. I would prefer not to leave the club for free, not to leave for zero cents. That increases the chance that I will leave now.”

When pressed on his immediate future, Timber was resigned to an exit, though leaving for free or a low transfer fee was not his initial plan. “That’s the last resort, that I want to leave here for free,” he said. “That’s never changed. That’s why we’ve been talking. That’s why I’m saying there’s a good chance something will happen in the coming days.

‘There’s a lot of movement. I don’t want to leave for free; if you don’t reach an agreement, it’s one and two.

“This could have been my last match at De Kuip. I knew that. No matter how difficult or how emotional, I tried to enjoy it to the fullest. It’s a shame to lose again. It’s especially painful that it happened in the final minute.

‘But you can’t say I’m throwing in the towel. You have to say that to my face. Whatever I think, if you don’t ask the questions, I don’t have to say it. Sometimes you can protect a player. This was the limit, that’s why I’m here,”

Timber is a player that LIVERPOOL, along with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked with in recent days, and if he is done at Feyenoord, we could see a bargain transfer move happen.
