Kostas Tsimikas left Liverpool to join AS Roma on loan in the summer. The Italian side had no option to buy and Nottingham Forest can now land the Greece international in January.
So far in Rome, the left-back has played only 600 minutes across all competitions. Gian Piero Gasperini hasn’t shown enough willingness to use him, with Wesley being used at left wing-back even though he is more comfortable on the right.
The Liverpool loanee has struggled to adapt, with his exit from Roma becoming a possibility. Indeed, in recent days it’s been reported he’s one of the players the club have been looking to move on. The other was Leon Bailey, and he returned to Aston Villa on Tuesday.
Il Messaggero cover the 29-year-old’s situation, making it clear that work is ongoing at the Giallorossi to send Tsimikas back to Anfield.
Sporting director Ricky Massara is keen on fulfilling Gasperini’s demands, with the manager desperate for new signings. The Italian has used his usual confrontational ways to push Roma into securing deals, going to the extent of skipping a press conference some weeks ago. That’s worked out rather well for him so far in January, which shows tantrums sometimes have the desired impact.
Back to Liverpool and then possibly to Nottingham Forest
Kostas Tsimikas is wanted by Nottingham Forest

Tsimikas, in the meantime, is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest. The Premier League club are expected to face competition from Olympiacos.
The full-back is expected to return to Liverpool and then head out of Merseyside again.
His current deal at Anfield runs out in 2027. This can make it easier for Nottingham Forest to sign Tsimikas, who is clearly not part of Arne Slot’s plans.
Roma are already working on a deal to sign Fiorentina’s Nicolo Fortini. He can act as an indirect replacement for Tsimikas, with negotiations ongoing with the Florence club.
