Arsenal are hoping to finalise two deals this week after striking agreements with two Champions League clubs

Ajax are looking to make their move for Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko permanent after already agreeing a loan deal with the Gunners man over the weekend.

The 29-year-old has been on loan at Nottingham Forest this season but has been limited to just five Premier League appearances because of injury problems. Ajax made a move for the ex-Manchester City man over the weekend and managed to strike an agreement on a loan deal with the Gunners.

Forest manager Sean Dyche addressed the defender’s future at Forest last week and appeared to open the door for an exit. He said: “We’ve spoken to the player, made him clear on his situation. He’s aware of that so we’ll see what happens.

“He’s played a couple of games, but hasn’t featured in others. He’s been injured. That hasn’t been helpful to him or to us. I’ve just been open with him, really. It’s like I say, I’m open with all players. But I think when you’ve done as much as he has in the game, it’s more of a conversation.

“Not demanding anything other than just telling him the truth, as I see it. And that’s how much he can figure out, how much game time he’s going to get at this time.”

The Dutch club had seen a loan offer rebuffed for Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte but are looking to do permanent business with the Gunners as they try to ‘upgrade their original loan proposal.’

Mikel Arteta addressed the player’s future directly on Tuesday night after Arsenal secured a 3-1 win over Inter Milan to confirm their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

“We certainly have to assess the situation. Obviously, Ethan’s not playing the minutes that he probably deserves and needs at his age,” said Arteta.

“So, we're going to sit down this week, address the situation, get everybody's opinion and at the end we'll make the decision that we believe is the best one for the player, because we have a massive talent there and we really need to look after it.”

Asked on what a loan move could do for Nwaneri, Arteta responded: “We'll see. Let's first of all make the decision, the best one, and then we can see what the impact will be.”
