Stoke City head coach Mark Robins has confirmed Divin Mubama has not suffered a fracture and has returned to Manchester City for further treatment. On Saturday, during the goalless draw with Queen's Park Rangers, Mubama was on the receiving end of a foul from defender Jimmy Dunne.

The game was halted for six minutes with Mubama left in considerable discomfort and needing oxygen on the pitch before being carried off on a stretcher. Dunne was booked for the tackle and his manager Julien Stephan apologised to Mubama in his post-match interview and wished him a speedy recovery.

BBC Sport journalist Sanny Rudravajhala was in attendance at the bet365 Stadium and wrote on X: "A serious injury to Man City loanee Divin Mubama at Stoke City. Horrible challenge by QPR's Jimmy Dunne. Mubama distressed, stretchered off and receiving significant medical treatment."

After the match, Robins said he believed the forward had suffered a fracture.

However, before Stoke's next match against Middlesbrough, Robins provided a positive update on the striker. "I’m still frustrated (about the QPR game) but there’s nothing we can do about it now unfortunately and you’ve got to move on," he explained. "After the game is finished you reflect and we could and should have won the game.

"We had things that didn’t go our way in terms of tackles against us. Obviously Divin has come out on the wrong end of a challenge. We have got to move on but it was still disappointing, still frustrating.

"Even more so it’s compounded because of the nature of the injuries we’ve picked up. I spoke after the game and alluded that he’d got a fracture.

"Thankfully that’s not the case, he’s got ligament damage. He’s got consultation this week and he’s gone back to Manchester City for that period of time. Hopefully we get some decent news and he won’t be too long out."

Mubama has made two senior appearances for City before his loan spell at Stoke began in the summer. He notably scored in the 8-0 thrashing of Salford City in the FA Cup last season.

This campaign, he has made 25 appearances for Robins' play-off chasing side, scoring five goals.
