Liverpool are eyeing a move for a Wolves player, according to reports from Brazil
Liverpool are preparing to make a move for Wolves midfielder Andre, per reports in the player’s home nation of Brazil.
The Reds were linked with the midfielder back in the summer of 2023 but Fluminense would not sell the then 22-year-old as interest from the Red as well as Fulham and Sporting Lisbon eventually cooled.
The combative midfielder made the move to Wolves in late August of 2024. He has since played 60 times for the club in defensive midfield. He has been a mainstay of the side this season with Wolves struggling at the bottom of the table.
They have picked up form in recent weeks with three draws and one win from their last four Premier League games. However, Andre did miss a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford due to suspension.
RTI Sporte in Brazil report that Liverpool ‘intend to make an offer’ for the player but Wolves will not accept anything less than £26m. The pending relegation of the club could work in Liverpool’s favour, as they can snap up the player for a relatively-cheap fee.
He is under contract with Wolves for another three years once the season comes to a close. Wolves are likely to stick by their asking price as Fluminense have a 10 per cent sell-on clause while they will also be handed an extra percentage of any transfer fee under FIFA solidarity rules.
To ensure a better share of wealth, clubs who train players between the ages of 12 and 23 receive extra portions of any future transfer fees.
Speaking about Andre and his Wolves team-mate Joao Gomes, Rob Edwards said last month: “They are really good players. They can take the ball in tight spaces. They can take the ball up against people.
“They enjoy doing that, that is their game, so we need to be able to use that. If we miss that too much, then we’re not going to play to our strength.”
Speaking back in August 2023 amid interest from Liverpool, Andre admitted the interest from the Reds was flattered about the offers.
"It's obvious that it's normal to receive offers," said Andre, as reported by Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte. "Even more so with the team doing well, getting through in the Libertadores, and being near the top of the Brasileria (Brazilian championship).
"Not just me, but others must have received offers as well. I am happy about the offers that arrive, but my mind today is focused 100% on Fluminense."
