Olympique de Marseille have this morning communicated that Emerson Palmieri suffered a thigh injury and is set to be ruled out of Les Olympiens’ Champions League clash against Liverpool this evening.
“Medical examinations have revealed a lesion to the defender’s left thigh. The club have not provided a definitive timeframe for his return, stating that the length of his absence will depend on how the injury evolves in the coming days,” announced a club communiqué from Marseille.
The Italian suffered the injury in Marseille’s final training session before facing Liverpool this evening at the Stade Vélodrome. Emerson has been one of the most consistent signings from OM’s summer of transfer activity – featuring in 15 matches in Ligue 1 and five Champions League matches.
