Liverpool were heavily linked with the 24-year-old under Jurgen Klopp before the midfielder’s decision to join Wolves
Premier League holders Liverpool are expected to table an offer to sign Wolves midfielder Andre, according to reports in Brazil.
Andre joined Wolves on deadline day during the summer of 2024 for a figure believed to be somewhere in the region of £21m.
Prior to signing for the Old Gold, the former Fluminense footballer had been close to joining Fulham before seeing that deal collapse while six months earlier during the January transfer window he had often been mentioned as a target for Liverpool during Klopp’s final transfer window with the football club.
Reports at the time even claimed that Andre had ‘verbally agreed’ personal terms with Liverpool, although that deal never materialised.
Liverpool plot move for Wolves midfielder Andre
The outlet reports that Liverpool are in the market for more midfield reinforcements to compete with the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szbosazlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones.
They report that the defending champions have been keeping tabs on Andre’s progress throughout his time in England and have been impressed with his overall output for Wolves despite the team’s difficulties in terms of results.
Andre has racked up 60 appearances for Wolves since signing but is yet to score a goal or make an assist. Instead his game is mainly based around stopping opposition attacks and breaking up the play in the middle of the park.
His performances have often caught the eye of the Brazil national team, with the footballer winning 13 caps for his country in total. He’s seen as one of the contenders to make the squad in the 2026 World Cup but faces strong competition from the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, Andrey Santos, Lucas Paquetá Casemiro and even teammate Joao Gomes among others.
Reports suggest Liverpool have been impressed with the way Andre has handled himself in England, adding that an offer could be tabled either this month or during the summer window.
Wolves are only thought to be willing to listen to offers worth somewhere in the region of £26m or above.
Liverpool hold long-term interest in Andre
Liverpool’s interest in Andre stretches back over three years since he formed part of Fluminense’s Copa Libertadores winning team. Andre was a fundamental part of that side in Rio de Janerio due to his aggression, tenacity and stamina.
“Since then, he has only grown. He has won the Copa Libertadores. He has played well in a bad Brazil side. Did well in a losing cause against Manchester City in the recent final of the Club World Cup.”
Andre’s future and price tag is likely to depend on which division Wolves find themselves in next season. As it stands, they are on a real upturn in performances but are still 14 points away from safety.
